Damon Dash is apparently having rough time these days.  This is what happens when you are foolish and get rich…you become broke and humiliated!  Poor guy, this is actually very sad.  We sure hope he can get his life back in order!

DailyMail — It was less than six months ago that hip-hop entrepreneur Damon Dash begged a judge to give him time to sort out his financial woes, but it doesn’t seem like he has made much leeway.  The Roc-a-fella Records co-founder, who once lived the high life at Jay-Z’s record label, trashed and abandoned his upstate New York mansion, throwing his dirty clothes and drug paraphernalia around the floor as well as leaving expensive jewelry and artwork, it emerged today.  According to court documents, the ex-rapper owes $162,000 in back rent after missing $15,000 a month rental payments before abandoning the Carmel pad.

The landlord of the sprawling property, which boasts a music studio and swimming pool, filed the lawsuit against Dash recently and said the carpets were ruined and his ‘clothing strewn on the floor as if it were trash’. The 42-year-old pleaded with a judge at the time to let him sort out his financial mess before he was evicted.  But landlord Elad Yoran believes he has been doing everything but this and has continued to lead a lavish lifestyle. He said: ‘When I look online, he’s rolling around in a chauffeured Roll Royce, and he’s riding in a private plane.’

He was forced to pack and store Dash’s jewelry, drug paraphernalia, clothing and art work that he left strewn around the house as if ‘frozen in time’, the papers filed in Putnam County state.  ‘He’s not living the life of someone who is trying to keep their expenses down so they can pay their obligations,’ Mullaney said.

Bills

Dash’s rise in the entertainment world began when he met an up-and-coming artist Jay-Z, then just known as Sean Carter, in 1994.   Mesmerized by Jay-Z’s talent and ambition, he forged a tight friendship with the hip-hop artist and together they founded Roc-A-Fella Records in 1996. In 1999, they founded Rocawear clothing line and at one time was said to have owned 1,300 different pairs of shoes.

In addition to the rent, Dash owes payments to the maid and Yoran for packing and storing the items. He insisted in court papers that he doesn’t have enough money to even pick up his items in storage.  He owed $2 million in unpaid taxes to New York state in 2009 and is fighting against a garnishment of his wages after he defaulted on a $238,078 loan to a garment-industry lender.

Additionally, Dash has amassed thousands of dollars in debts, tax payments, and lawsuits from his various business dealings, including a $237,078 outstanding loan, suits brought by fashion designer Charlotte Ronson and even a celebrity bodyguard firm.

Between 2002 and 2004, reports indicate that Dash’s indulgent lifestyle, with several luxury properties cross the globe and his outlandish spending, became too extreme.  Jay-Z reportedly grew weary of Dash’s ego and ambition and they had a falling out that lead to the sale of Roc-A-Fella to Def Jam Records in 2004.  At a meeting in December 2004, Jay offered Dash a $22 million buyout, $7 million in cash. In the aftermath of the split, Dash started his own label but it has met with little success. Read more…
